ALOO TIKKI

Indian

Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Cooking Instruction

1.Prepare the Potato Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, chopped coriander leaves, and salt. Mix everything well to form a uniform mixture. 2.Shape the Tikki: Divide the potato mixture into equal-sized portions and shape each portion into a round or oval-shaped patty, about 1/2 inch thick. You can make them as big or small as you prefer. 3. Coat the Tikki: In a small bowl, mix corn flour or all-purpose flour with water to make a thin batter. Dip each potato patty into the batter, ensuring it's coated evenly on all sides. 4. Fry the Tikki: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the coated potato patties into the pan. Fry the Aloo Tikki until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once done, remove the fried Aloo Tikki from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. 5. Serve: Serve the hot and crispy Aloo Tikki with your favorite chutneys or sauces, such as mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup. Enjoy them as a snack or appetizer!
